Pre Commercial Thinning and Fuels Reduction is an ecological must to create a sustainable environment. It helps reduce the encroachment of trees and prevents ladder fuels from igniting during wild fires. This practice also helps the surrounding community; ensuring beneficial resources for the dominant species.
It's important to eliminate this invasive species due to its great impact on the surrounding ecosystem. Once this invasive species is removed we have noticed an abundant growth in the surrounding species. This practice is also used for grazing purposes, wildlife improvement, or creating national forest parks for public usage (ex: hunting, fishing, campsites).
Hand piling is accomplished with manual labor. It consists of gathering all limbs and boles of the cut material. They are stacked in a compact and aligned formation that allows the pile to burn accordingly during the winter. This practice helps gather all the excess material that was cut and gathered leaving a clean forest surface.
We offer a support crew that consists of twenty fire fighting personnel. They assist government agencies, such as; ODF, BLM, CAL Fire, and any other agency that solicits fire support assistance. We also conduct pile burning during our off season.
This is a fundamental practice for our future forest ecosystems. Millions of trees are planted annually to ensure future sustainable forest management. Our team understands that every tree should be utilized correctly to ensure future persistent growth.
Lop and Scatter is another technique that's used to reduce the amount of ladder fuels. These units are felled and slashed to a manageable height for prescribed burns. above is an example of a unit completed by our felling crew consisting of large NW Juniper.
